Retirement / Independent Living Homes

What are retirement/independent living communities?

Retirement communities or independent living communities cater to seniors who are very independent with few medical problems. Residents live in fully equipped private apartments available in a variety of sizes from studios to large two bedrooms. Fine dining services are offered with custom-designed meal packages.

Senior Appartment Communities

What are senior apartments?

Senior Apartments are designed to meet the needs of active adults 55 and over. Senior 55+communities will have amenities such as golf, pools, tennis courts, and exercise centers to draw in the older adults who want a low-medium maintenance lifestyle. Most community fees include utilities, landscaping services, house maintenance services and security. Senior apartments do not offer the type of personal care services that assisted living communities and memory care facilities provide.

Home Care

What is home care?

Home care is for aging adults who suffer from an illness, surgery recovery, or need assistance at home. Home caregivers provide comfort, support, meals, companionship, transportation. They can coordinate homecare between family members, doctors and the hospital. Home care agencies offer 24/7 live in home care support and hourly assistance. You have the option to cancel at any time. North Carolina requires home health aide training, certification, education, and criminal background check. It's important to ensure you find dependable, trusted caregivers for your loved ones.

Respite Care

What is respite care?

Respite care typically refers to a short-term stay at a senior community, usually an assisted living or memory care community. Respite care is a great living option for an elderly or disabled person who needs some day-to-day supportive services, but still desires social stimulation, engagement and activities. This type of care can also sometimes refer to in-home caregiving services used for only a short period.

The services and amenities available to long-term assisted living residents are also available to respite residents. These services and amenities usually include:

  • Three nutritious meals daily
  • Medication management
  • 24-hour supervision and security
  • Assistance with personal care needs such as bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming
  • Laundry service
  • Housekeeping
  • Activities and outings
  • Transportation
